Viking Electronics 300AE 30W Paging Horn 8 Ohm and 70V/25V

The Viking Electronics 300AE 30W Paging Horn is a versatile loudspeaker designed for use in various paging systems. With its direct voice coil connection, it is compatible with 8 ohm paging systems such as Viking models PA-2A, PA-15, HF-3W, DVA-2WA, and M2W. Despite its higher power rating of 30 watts, the 300AE is more efficient than Viking's smaller 25AE paging horn, requiring only 1 watt of power to produce the same loudness as 2 watts driven into the smaller horn.

In addition, the 300AE features a built-in step-down transformer, allowing it to be used with 25V or 70V paging systems such as Viking models PA-30 and PA-60. The transformer offers a range of power taps, which can be independently adjusted using a 6 position rotary switch. This flexibility enables installers to fine-tune the volume of each paging horn. Furthermore, higher voltage paging systems offer the advantage of connecting more speakers using lighter gauge wire runs while minimizing volume loss due to wire resistance.
