When the lanyard is pulled and the clip is removed, the circuit is closed (complete), allowing grounding to a suitable ground such as a grounding block, the battery, or a suitable area on the engine itself.

The Sea-Dog Magneto Safety Kill Switch includes a coiled lanyard that is approximately 15" when coiled and 48" when stretched. It is important to regularly inspect and replace the lanyard if it becomes worn, cut, or frayed to ensure reliable operation.
